Sneaking up for some breakfast.
It always makes me happy to see this handsome rooster who lives in a thicket in back of my house.
Snowflake on my head
No better way to spend a blizzardy day than watching the amazing little birds!
I watched this Blue Jay pick up one peanut, put it down and pick up the other, he tried to pick up both, before deciding on one before flying off. Within a minute he was back getting the other one.
Three shivering beauties
There is a flock of 30 plus Mourning Doves on our property. This day because of the frost they really stood out on the branches - normally they are so well camouflaged they just look like bumps.
Blue looks good on these guys
Still enjoying a flock of about 8-10 bluebirds. Maybe they will stay the winter.
Unusual Dining Companions
They have both been regulars in my back yard but I don't usually see them in such close proximity.
Living on the Edge
This little tree frog, about the size of a nickel, was perched on a wasp trap and this fly crawled right onto his back. Unfortunately I missed the takedown. What incredibly patient (and quick) creatures those frogs are.
More Precious than Silver and Gold
The colors are really changing on the Sandhill Cranes. They were glowing in the sunlight.
Smile for the camera!
This adorable tree frog joined me on the patio while I was waiting for hummingbirds.
Whoa! Don't think I'm going there!
This little hummer seemed to be putting on the brakes when she saw the wasp on the feeder. She did however go on to gather some nectar from the feeder.
I am retired and have recently developed an interest in photography. My husband and I love to travel and I wanted to be able to capture more of our memories in pictures. I love birds and nature and have so enjoyed discovering this site where people can share their photos.
