Looking Back

In a moment as the cool fall breeze blows through the broken glass and tattered sheers, the memories flood in. Images of a wonderful and fulfilling childhood back on the farm. Thoughts of the chores, the running yet again from the geese as they lay in wait and that fateful day as dad stepped in and saved me from the mean old rooster. A soft smile creeps to my lips as a tear slips slowly from the corner of an eye. A childhood past yet as the memories linger, dreams of the future fill the room with warmth. The tears dry and the smile widens. The future is bright, bright as the sun slipping in through the weathered window.
