Caribou Trail

The Caribou Trail starts at Lutsen on Lake Superior and winds its way into the Superior National Forest for about 17 miles. It ends at The Grade (Natl. Forest Road 170), not far from the trailhead at Eagle Mountain (the highest point in Minnesota).

The Caribou is one of the main gateways to the Superior National Forest and her many Natl Forest roads, remote lakes, and rustic Natl Forest campgrounds, as well as a few private resorts. The picturesque road is also one of the gateways to some of the most beautiful fall colors that you will ever see, anywhere. In the spring and summer, the wildflowers put on their own colorful show and in winter, it becomes another world, with access to ski and snowmobile trails.

Honeymoon Trail (Natl. Forest Rd 164) is one of the Caribou's most popular crossroads. The winding Honeymoon runs for close to 10 miles between the Caribou and Sawbill trails through beautiful forest areas that explode with color in the fall.
