Waiting for Her Cuz'
This egret was with her cousin, the blue heron when I first came upon them. As soon as I got close enough, the heron flew away and the egret stayed behind. It was almost like she was (not so patiently) waiting for his return.
Just before the downpour this morning I was watching geese in a pond and caught some sun hiding behind the grasses..
Happy Father's Day
Hope all of you dads out there have a great Father's Day!
Highliting the Night
The setting of the sun guarantees dark to the night.
Seven Loons in the Sunset
It's not unusual to see this many loons where we camp every year. Not much time left now and we will be joining them again.
This was certainly a lucky capture on both my part and his.
And In She Flew....
Right in the middle of the photo shoot with 4 deer. I think she was as surprised as we were. When she went to walk away one of the deer started to join her but changed its mind.
Male Common Yellowthroat
A broad black mask lends a touch of highwayman’s mystique to the male Common Yellowthroat. Look for these furtive, yellow-and-olive warblers skulking through tangled vegetation, often at the edges of marshes and wetlands.
Every year I miss getting out to my peonies in time to get a photo of the bud only. This year, I finally got there in time.
Duck, Duck, Gray Duck
Ansers are known as gray geese actually, though coloration can also include buff, brown, and a wide variety of patterns, as well as some white variations in domestic breeds. While some members of the Anser genus can tend toward black bills, this particular one has an orange beak. Often, the birds will have orange legs and feet, setting them apart from the other two genera.
There are so many wonderful places to discover in Minnesota, especially along the winding, country roads or the 'dead end' streets. I enjoy finding the wildlife in the nature centers and the different landscapes that abound in the wetlands and country. Through photography, I have learned and discovered so many things about Minnesota that I would have missed.
