I took this picture in October of 2016 in Faribault. My office was in downtown and in the middle of the afternoon I could hear a marching band playing. I grabbed my camera and went outside. This was a homecoming parade for Bethlehem Academy and Faribault High School featuring floats, students, parents and an overall very festive atmosphere. Faribault is just a real nice community and everyone was having fun. After I took the picture I shouted "Go BA" (they're students there) to these young ladies and they shouted the same thing back to me.
I look at this picture of these innocent children who have their whole lives ahead of them and am shocked and appalled at all of these school shootings. How someone can pull a trigger is unimaginable to me.
I'm guessing that these young ladies were either juniors or seniors in high school. They're doing what is fun about high school; cheering on your sports teams, hanging out with your friends, going to prom and then off to college. After these shocking school shootings, I look at these innocent children who, just because they show up at school, their lives could be in danger. We have to do better, the current system is failing these kids. These cowardly acts of violence have to stop.

This church was scheduled for the wrecking ball when the owner of Little Log House on the Prairie got involved. He and his crew dismantled the church and moved it south to his farm where they reassembled the church saving it from the landfill.
