The Sun Aligns on Ice Henge at Lake of the Isles
Shadows are cast and sunbeams shine, but no druids were involved in the construction of Ice Henge for the 2011 City of Lakes Luminary Loppet. My husband designed and built (with a lot of help) this marvel of ice engineering. The only sacrifices made here were of time, and it was worth every minute!
UPDATE: 2012 CITY OF LAKES LOPPET MOVED TO WIRTH LAKE. Due to the warm temperatures playing havoc with the course on Lake of the Isles, it was announced Saturday that all events will be moved Wirth Lake and Wirth Park. For the Luminary Loppet on Saturday evening, a hiking event will be added. There still will be lots of luminaries, the ice pyramid, ice dancers and more, but sadly, this morning my husband and son are on the crew having to tear down the other ice monuments on Lake of the Isles for safety reasons. They are all taking it in stride, though. I’m missing our good Minnesota snow and cold winters! For more info, check out the City of Lakes Loppet website. The logistics required for this move are mindboggling!
