Announcing Youth Photography Campaign

By Young Photographers Challenges

As the Capture Minnesota II book phase comes to an end (tomorrow, February 1st), it's time to turn our attention to what's next. We have some exciting things in store over the next several months, the first of which is a new group of challenges for young photographers (ages 13-18) from The Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs!

Calling all Minnesota youth! From the first of February through the end of April, two challenges per month will be open for students between the age of 13 and 18. There will be two types of challenge per month: general photography and nature photography. Two winners in each monthly challenge will be selected, for a total of four winners each month! The people's choice winner in each challenge will be selected by popular vote and the editors' choice winner will be selected by Camera Council judges. Winners will receive $20 West Photo gift cards, courtesy of West Photo.

In addition to the monthly challenges, we've setup a By Young Photographers category for Minnesota youth to contribute to.

At the end of April, as the By Young Photographers campaign draws to a close, overall winners of the two challenge types will be selected (general photography and nature photography). Certificates will be awarded for Honorable Mention; and, Bronze, Silver and Gold Medals, for third, second and first place -- respectively. A Grand Prize Winner will also be selected and will be presented a Canon EOS 60D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera and a 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS UD Standard Zoom Lens, donated by West Photo.

Of course we also have tons of unique challenges lined up for those who aren't youth, so stick around for a lot of fun headed your way. Now, as the last hours of the Capture Minnesota II book phase are upon us, submit your last shots to be eligible for the book and vote like crazy!
